Whatnot isn’t just a place for breakers, brash sellers and givvys, it’s also a great place to buy sports cards for cheap that you can resell online.

Here are five tips to help you get started:
- Buy cards, not breaks
Sure, breaks are fun. But if you’re using Whatnot to make money buying and reselling cards it’s best to buy undervalued individual cards or lots.
- Seek out small sellers
Look for rooms where sellers are offloading singles with fewer than about 20 people in the room. That’s where the deals are. Fewer bidders mean valuable cards can sell for way under comps. You can still find deals in larger rooms, and I have my go-to sellers with bigger rooms, but there’s more competition and the best deals are harder to get.
- Try new or new-to-you sellers
Don’t be afraid to try sellers with few sales or reviews. They’re likely trying to build up their following and will give great deals to increase their sales.
- Start small
If you’re new to Whatnot, it can be overwhelming. Start by searching the sport you want to buy and testing small rooms. Search for “football singles,” “basketball singles,” etc.
- Join givvys!
While you’re checking out new rooms make sure to join giveaways to get free cards. Because you’re already sticking with buying in small rooms, your odds of winning are higher and you can resell the cards you win to offset your purchases.
